Responsive Matter
Hannah Liebig is a founding member of "responsive matter", a nomadic curatorial collective. For this exhibition, she both organized the show and presented her own work, exploring material relationships within contemporary spatial practice.
Körperlichkeit im Raum
Liebig's textile-based practice investigates the female body as a site of production and regulation. Drawing on queer-feminist and body-theoretical discourse, her work examines how bodies are shaped—and constrained—by material, symbolic, and spatial frameworks.
In this installation, a suspended figure moves through space, held by threads attached to a mobile. The mobile orchestrates a continuous flow of movement, creating shifting relationships between the body and its surroundings. The movement appears to originate from within the figure itself, suggesting an autonomous choreography that resists external definition.
The work addresses questions of feminine embodiment—both biological and socially constructed—through hybrid forms that blur boundaries between surface and substance, softness and hardness, intimacy and display.
Through its fluid choreography, the piece stages a quiet refusal of fixed identity, proposing movement itself as a form of resistance against imposed narratives of the body.
